Ok, I've hit a fairly large obsticle with my game, a technical one really, and it won't be resolved any time soon. So for now, Mana/Monster Hunter is going to be on hold.
Until then, I've got an idea for a medieval semi-fantasy game, similar to A Song of Ice and Fire in flavour, but I'm leaning towards using a different setting for this game.
This will also be a pbp game, and will focus mostly on non-combat situations. There will be combat, but the majority of situations would be social or sneaky in nature.
The game will be using either the SIF RPG system, as this captures the feel of these sort of settings really well, or a slightly modified version of 3.5 D&D using the generic classes in Unearthed Arcana (for those not intimatly aware of these variants, they basically reduce the base classes down to three, Warrior, Expert and Spellcaster. The Unearthed Arcana rules are in the 3.5 SRD, so you can refer to that even if you don't have the book.) I'll make a decision on the system it uses after I figure out a few more details.
As for the storyline, the PCs will be children of/retainers/loyal to a fairly signifigant noble house during the early stages of a barbarian invasion. The House's lands are far from the advancing hordes, but are sending troops to the front line to push the invaders back. The lord and his eldest son (both NPCs) are preparing to leave with their troops in the next few days.
As I said, the setting will likly be seperate from SIF, but since this setting is so well suited to this type of game, I may end up using the setting anyway, but the story would be seperate from any events in the books. The prime advantage to this method would be that I don't have to create a world, it's already there, I just have to tweak some things.
So if you're interested feel free to post in this thread. I'd like at least three people to run this game, but more is no problem.
