Reclamation is a low/dark fantasy campaign, and the premise is that several hundred years ago, most of the world was overrun by monsters. Humanity has been pushed to a few besieged kingdoms huddled round the Sea of the North.
Your characters come from Gastony, the largest remaining human kingdom. Inspired by the new monotheistic faith, the Virian Way, Gastony has succeeded in repelling most monsters from their borders, and briefly in conquering the entire peninsula of Maseda. Though the Virian world has since split, it is nevertheless the most secure region left to humanity.
Recently, Gastony has made an alliance with another realm, Palania, which is located on the other side of a large bay. Palania was devastated by an army led by a dragon about a hundred years ago and still remains largely in ruins. Your characters will be travelling from Gastony to Palania as settlers, to assist in the reclamation of that land.
