Irma looked at Boris curiously. What does he meen by that? What is he getting at?

Dray considered Boris' words, watching him thoughtfully. He smiled wryly. "Oh yes, Ser Boris. I am sure we are both equally loyal and committed to the Mekelns."

Irma shrugged. "Mekeln or no, you're under Calderron's roof, figuritivly at least, and that makes us loyal to you."
She rode on a bit, trying to spot Tempest through the leaves. "I feel that this summer is going to be a memorable one, might be that some of those memories will be of a more prosperous time for us all." She added, looking up at the leafy canopy overhead, her tone insinuated that the 'us' she talked of was more localized than their respective houses.

Ser Boris watched Irma quietly. "Let us hope so my lady." He followed her eyeline to watch Tempest. "Remarkable," he added under his breath, perhaps about the bird.

"Indeed." He looked over to Boris as Irma rode ahead. "It is good to know that some in the Mekeln household rise above their level of competence. By which I mean that I am glad for the sake of my liege lords, of course."

"They need loyal vassal houses as well. I think they can find them here, where they would be lacking in certain other lands under their fealty," replied Ser Boris. He seemed a bit distracted from Dray's words, glancing back at Irma.

Irma glanced back at the tall man. "House Calderron is always loyal to our liege lord, Lord Mekeln knows that I'm sure." She seemed about to say something else when an eagle's cry split the air. "Ah, Tempest's found something." She looked ahead, then back to Dray. "You don't mind if I go on ahead do you brother?"

Dray's mouth twitched slightly when Boris was distracted by Irma. Always steals the attention, that one, he thought, half laughing to himself. When she asked to go on ahead, he waved his hand. "Go ahead. Take Erik with you." He looked at Boris thoughtfully. "Do you know about Tempest and Silver Eye? I don't believe you do." He stepped forward into a clearing and looked back at Boris slyly. He whistled loudly, then waited a few seconds before he clenched his hand three times in rapid succession. A few moments later, an eagle dove into the clearing and swooped around in a circle around Dray, slowing. It perched itself on a tree facing Boris. "This is Silver Eye."

Boris laughed in surprise. "An intelligent bird! Are not eagles more dangerous than hawks? How do you keep it from clawing you?"

Dray shrugged. "It never has. We raised our eagles from the shell."

"You are a fortunate pair. The gods must see some destiny for you. Come let's ride on, I want to see this well of yours!" Soon they reached Owl Well. There was open space around the old stone structure, though ancient trees leaned over it and created a partial canopy. The speckled light of the sun danced about as the branches moved. "Very well, ser," said Ser Boris. "Let us put on a competent display for the young lord and lady." He laid his own sword carefully against a tree and picked up one of the practice weapons.

Dray dismounted and found a place to lean against a tree near his sister. He spoke quietly to her. "6 silver on Boris."

Irma sat down next to Dray, tucking her feet under her. "Where's your familial loyalty brother?" She said jokingly. "You're abandoning your cousin in his greatest hour of need. I'll take you up on that, afterall, our coz has something going for him that Boris doesn't." She added slyly.

Dray looked at Irma curiously. "And what's that supposed to mean? You wouldn't be thinking of interfering now would you?" he replied in the same joking manner.

Irma just smiled cockily. "You'll see." She said, settling in to watch the contest.
